Carta ao Presidente da Or Ahayim
Dear Andre Pereira,
As we close out an eventful 2006, I would like to thank you for your support of ADL. Our work would not be possible without your financial and moral backing.
During the past year, your support helped us rally world leaders to respond more vigorously to anti-Semitism in their own countries, as well as the global community. Through a series of meetings in Europe, ADL senior leaders raised the core issue of anti-Semitism.
In an unforgettable private audience with Pope Benedict XVI, the Pope assured us that the Vatican is making the battle against anti-Semitism a top priority. He stressed that his goal is to "build relationships not just of tolerance, but of authentic respect."
Pope Benedict has shown his sensitivity to the need for a new level of openness and dialogue among the major faiths, and I am extremely encouraged by his public support of Israel at this critical time in history.
We also met with French president Jacques Chirac and Germany's Minister of the Interior, Dr. Wolfgang Schauble. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to battle anti-Semitism, and Dr. Schauble sought ADL's expertise to help fight extremism in his country.
In all these efforts, we depend on people like you who are willing to stand up for your principles and beliefs by funding our work. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Abraham H. Foxman
National Director
