Humanitarian aid continues to flow in to Gaza
Humanitarian aid continues to flow in to Gaza(Communicated by COGAT - Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, Ministry of Defense) The Kerem Shalom, Karni, Nahal Oz and Erez crossings operated today (Monday, 16 February 2009) enabling humanitarian movements and transfer of humanitarian goods in to Gaza। Throughout the day, a total of 148 trucks with 3222 tons of supplies at the request of UNRWA, The World Food Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross, ANERA and a donation from the Government of Jordan। Also, goods for the private sectors that included meat and dairy products, fruit, blankets, empty sacks, oil, vaccines and veterinary medication, diapers, reproductive eggs, sugar, rice and personal hygiene items। Via Nahal Oz fuel depot, 438,000 liters of heavy duty diesel for the Gaza power station were transferred. Karni conveyor operated and transferred 900 tons of different types of grain. On Sunday (15 February 2009) the Kerem Shalom, Karni, Nahal Oz and Erez crossings operated enabling humanitarian movements and transfer of humanitarian goods in to Gaza. Throughout the day, a total of 157 trucks with 4027 tons of supplies at the request of UNRWA, The World Food Programme and a donation from "Let the animals live Israel" of animal fodder. Also, goods for the private and public sectors that included meat dairy and fish products, fruit, canned food, blankets, oil, vaccines and veterinary medication diapers, hypocloride, sugar, rice and personal hygiene items. Also, 434,000 liters of heavy duty diesel for the Gaza power station were transferred via the Nahal Oz fuel depot. Karni conveyor operated and transferred 1550 tons of different types of grain. On Tuesday (17 February 2009), 72 trucks of grain are scheduled to convey produce through Karni crossing and 127 trucks with goods via Kerem Shalom for UNRWA, an Ambulance donated by MSF, food aid for WFP, assistance items for the ICRC further aid from Jordan, a donation from "Let the Animals live Israel" and supplies for the private sector. In the ongoing humanitarian effort, since the unilateral cease fire (18/1/2009), 98,463 tons of aid and 7,842,900 liters of fuel for the Gaza power station have been delivered to the Gaza Strip.
